This year, Mercator Medical Thailand marks its 20th anniversary. To celebrate, we held a gala event: a good moment to look back on the journey we've taken, from acquiring our first factory to becoming a leader in the production of specialist nitrile gloves.
Our story in Thailand began in 2006, when Wiesław Żyznowski traveled here from Poland, first to visit and then to lead the acquisition of the plant by Mercator Medical, the facility we know today as Plant 1. At the time, the factory had five production lines and an annual production capacity of around 480 million gloves. That was the moment that changed us as a company. From a distributor, we became a manufacturer, and in our industry that's an entirely different position and a different level of credibility with customers.
A decade later, in 2016, we built Plant 2 from the ground up: a modern facility with an annual production capacity of above 2 billion gloves. That investment proved crucial a few years later, when the COVID-19 pandemic drove a sharp surge in global demand for protective gloves. In 2020 we decided to build Plant 3, a highly automated facility with a capacity of around 1.2 billion specialized gloves per year. The project also included a modern biomass boiler house, a 1,500 m³ reverse-osmosis system for water recirculation, and a 4.7 MW solar farm.
In 2024, we launched another investment: the construction of a biomass-fired combined heat and power plant, designed to significantly reduce our dependence on externally sourced electricity. Thanks to this plant, around 95% of the energy used at the site is expected to come from renewable sources.
Twenty years after acquiring our first factory , we are proud to be a leading manufacturer of premium specialized gloves, trusted by some of the world’s most demanding customers. We're also among the industry leaders in sustainability, an area of growing importance to customers worldwide. In the years ahead, we want to keep developing our technology, our products and our competitiveness, while preserving the quality and reliability Mercator is known for. Our ambition is for Mercator Medical Thailand to remain the industrial heart of the entire Mercator Group.
Factories, machines and investments alone don't build a company: people do. That's why, during the gala, we made a point of thanking the people who have built this story day by day. We would like to extend sincere appreciation to our dedicated employees for their outstanding contributions to the company. Special recognition goes to Dariusz Krezymon , who has successfully led the company over the past ten years. Under his leadership , the company has achieved a significant growth and established a strong position in the global market.
We would also like to thank Ewa Murawska, our Sales&Marketing Director for her sixteen years of commitment, professionalism and valuable contributions to the company’s growth and success. We would especially like to acknowledge: Kuntalee Lertkitsomboon, Apinya Panhab, Suriya Meenin and Nares Mookem for twenty years of loyal service and dedication. Spending twenty years with one company is a remarkable achievement, and we would like to personally thank for their hard work and valuable contributions throughout the years.

Twenty years ago, Mercator arrived in Thailand with a single factory. Today, Mercator Medical Thailand is one of the pillars of the entire Mercator Group. We hope that a decade from now, at our 30th anniversary, we'll be able to look back on another chapter of growth, investment and success.
